More {Adventures with my Lensbaby} – In the Studio

A little more Lensbaby love to share with you.   Some portrait shots from a studio session with the wonderful Emilie Walt, a model you will have seen before on my blog.   I’m loving the versatility of this great lens combo.   It’s not just for landscapes!

Some MAD encounters at the museum with Stratford Clicks

Last year an idea I had been nurturing for some time was finally realised when, following some conversations with a couple of lovely photographer friends, we decided to start up a local photography group.

After just a few months we have a core of regular attendees at monthly meetings with numbers ever increasing and a very lively Facebook group where members can share photos and information.

Some great alliances and friendships have quickly formed in ‘Stratford Clicks’ and we’re proud to have been a source of encouragement for some very talented people.

For our meeting this month we arranged an evening photographing in a brilliant local attraction who kindly gave us access for a few hours in the evening. The MAD Museum, full of weird and wonderful Mechanical Art & Design exhibits – some of them are frankly a bit ‘mad’! – was an absolute photographer’s paradise.

Vintage china product shoot on location

I discovered a gorgeous wedding location this week tucked away in the Warwickshire countryside.   Gorcott Hall, close to the village of Mappleborough Green between Henley in Arden & Redditch.  It is absolutely stunning and I’d love to shoot a wedding there sometime.   If you know anyone thinking of getting married there I’d love to have a chat with them…

But back to the matter in hand.  I was there to do a product photography shoot for a new vintage china hire business, Touch of Vintage.  The first outing for their china and a perfect opportunity to capture some images ‘on location’ so to speak, for their new website.   It’s no secret that I love a bit of vintage china so this was a real treat to work on.  And there was cake!

Winter in a Seaside Town {Adventures with my Lensbaby}

I was lucky enough to have a few lovely days break in North Devon between Christmas & New Year.    A perfect opportunity to properly get to grips with my new Lensbaby.    I’m just a little bit in love with the ‘fake’ tilt shift look!

Ilfracombe was an interesting town to visit ‘out of season’.  I have to admit to being a little shocked by Damien Hirst’s 66Ft bronze statue, Verity, facing out to sea.  For me it just doesn’t sit well with the image of the classic picture postcard seaside town & fishing port.  But I guess that’s what this kind of art is all about.  It challenges our thinking.

2012 in Pictures

I had in my mind that this blog would be some images that summed up my year in 2012.   When I looked back at the (many, many) folders of images, I realised it was going to be difficult to pick out just a handful.

So, that prompted the first upload to my YouTube channel!    I have exciting plans for 2013 so I hope this is the first of many.   But more on that later…

Many thanks to some lovely people who helped make 2012 a very exciting year.
